‘One of my pleasures used to be walking both on the coastal path and on the beach, especially with my dog. Claws is no longer with us, but I did this pastel of me with him on the beach at Carbis Bay. This was before we moved to Cornwall, but I feel his spirit is still with us and I tried to capture his excitability and bounciness in this depiction of us enjoying the gentle lapping waves.’ (Pastel drawing)

‘Graham used to paint as a hobby whilst at sea for 37 years, and has starting again in Lockdown.

Force 10 Cromarty, which is acrylic on canvas (40” x 40”).’
‘Mission Garden.  Graham has spent most of his Exercise time during Lockdown on keeping the garden looking good for visiting seafarers and the workforce at The Docks.  We have had crews from 3 different ships using the garden during Lockdown – which has been good for their health and wellbeing.’
‘A statue of Joseph Emidy (slave and musician) which was also made by Graham and is currently in the Mission’s Propeller Garden.’

‘With the beautiful sunny weather we realised that the single sun lounger was not enough to accommodate my wife, myself and two grown up sons (returned home for lockdown) so my boys and I repurposed some old decking and lumber that was lying in the garden and decided we could make some robust garden furniture. The result has proved a real focus for sun worshiping, lunches, aperos, BBQs and the odd sneaky cigarette ever since!’

‘I have taken this opportunity to take out my oil paints once again and have a go at some portrait painting along with Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Week. This streaming event has seen thousands of artists around the world simultaneously painting a celebrity sitter for 4 hours every Sunday during lockdown. It has been a fascinating community gathering with work being shared on Instagram via the #mypaotw tag. It has been great fun and a good distraction from the confines of lockdown.’
